During a surprise inspection of 311 engineering and technical institutes, it has been detected that around 33% institutions allegedly submitted fraudulent data to get approval from AICTE. The false data were related to the number of staff, students, and infrastructure. A major penalty would be imposed on these institutes, and they may even face closure, say reports.
