GEORGETTAN'S POORAM MOVIE REVIEW
Georgettan's Pooram is actor Dileep's first film in 2017 and is another tailor-made addition to the whole new genre created by him in Malayalam film industry. Bankrolled by Arun Gosh, Bijoy Chandran and Shivanee Suraj, the movie directed by K Biju has Y V Rajesh as the screenplay writer. Apart from Dileep, Renji Panicker, Vinay Forrt, Sharafudheen, Rejisha Vijayan, T G Ravi and Chemban Vinod Jose play important roles in the movie.
The plot of the movie revolves around George (Dileep) and his jobless friends. They waste their time in a plot that was donated by a famous yesteryear Kabaddi player Mathai to promote sports in that locality. But with time the plot became a dumping ground and a hangout for youngsters. The entry of Peter (Chemban Vinod), the son of Mathai, the Kabaddi player changes the lives of George and his friends.
The film on the whole is very old fashioned and slow; the first half has many slapstick comedies and counters which will satisfy a regular Dileep fan. The second half unveils the story which sheds light on the truth that playgrounds are losing its importance in the fast growing cities of Kerala.
The Thrissur slang used in the movie has artificiality from the beginning. Dileep continues with what he has been doing in the recent past and delivers in his trademark style. Vinay Forrt and Sharafudheen support Dileep in the comedy sequences and have some good lines for themselves. Rajisha Vijayan is a very talented actress, but unfortunately, she has nothing much to do in the movie.
The cinematography by Vinod Illampally is average and has nothing exceptional in it, but gels in with the mood of the movie. The music of the movie will not match up-to-the previous creations of Gopi Sunder, but it does provide a much-needed relief in the predictable screenplay.
Negatives
Duration and loose plot
Old fashioned storytelling
