Director Ram has established himself as one of the most important directors of Tamil Cinema with two class products – Katrathu Tamizh and Thanga Meengal. Behindwoods takes great pride in bestowing the medal for Best Direction to Ram.
Ram recalled that the first recognition for Thanga Meengal came from Bharathiraja, and to get an award from him again was an honor. He was at his joking best when he said, “Because of Thanga Meengal, I have made Annan (Ram addresses Bharathiraja as Annan, elder brother) stand in a lot of places to give out awards and medals. Sorry and thanks for your patience.”
The director thanked Behindwoods for the support for Thanga Meengal. He said, “At the time of Thanga Meengal’s release, Behindwoods had given favorable reviews and support. And now, thank you for this recognition.”
Ram also took time to thank Gautham Vasudev Menon, who had started the project, and JSK for taking it up and taking it to the audience. He said, “It was all JSK’s gamble.”
