A.R Rahman weaved his magic wand yet again last year (2013), with two musical blockbusters, Kadal and Maryan. Winning an award is no new thing to him as he has always been hit with an avalanche of awards and accolades. However the musician was humble and gracious to make his presence felt at the Behindwoods Gold Summit 2014 and accepted the Behindwoods Gold Medal for Best Music Direction.
A.R Rahman (ARR) got his medal from M.S Viswanathan (MSV), the Mellisai Mannar, whom ARR considers as one of his music idols. This is the first time ever that the Mozart of Madras is receiving an award from the legendary MSV.
“Whenever I look at him, I see music. I see melody,” Rahman said about the evergreen melody king.
“His influence has definitely lasted as an extraordinary fragrance for four to five decades and will continue to be so. This is a great honor. Ella Pughazhum Iraivanukke. (All praises to the Lord)
I would like to thank Bharath Bala, Dhanush, Mani Ratnam, Kutti Revathy, Vairamuthu, Karky and all the others. Wishing Behindwoods a very good start.”
