Nenjikul will probably be
the next song every guitarist
will dream to play. You can
already see a stack of them
on youtube. Mun Dhinam and
Anal Male seemed like songs
that typically KK and Bombay
Jayshree would have sung.
Not sure why those two are
missing in this album. Probably
to not give too much of a
déjà vu I guess.
Anyway, just like singers
are given a break from an
album, I hope the Harris-Gautham
break is temporary too. Oh...and
does Thamarai write only for
Gautham's films? She should
be writing a lot more of those
refreshing, delightful and
wonderful lyrics...
With all due respect for Gauthm's
dad and their relationship,
I just felt that the father-son
relationship shown was not
significant enough for an
average viewer like me to
feel as great or be wowed
at. Even though Surya keeps
repeating that the dad was
inspirational at every stage,
it really seemed ordinary.
If the dad told Surya to help
the family first and then
go in search of love, that
is inspirational. To tell
him to go with all that debt
and no job seemed irresponsible.
Thankfully the son was sensible.
The scene where the dad tells
the son to convert sorrow
into positive energy seemed
very generic and not specific.
But anyway, just for the magical
first half, this is one heck
of a movie.
P.S. Being a mechanical engineer,
I thoroughly enjoyed Gautham's
rocking references to mechanical
engineering. SPB Charan is
awesome in the Om Shanthi
song particularly when he
sings 'yenai vandhu urasum
kaatrae" Now that’s
a son truly inspired by his
legendary dad!
