Hi,
My name is M.Satish Kumar and
I am 25 yrs and an avid movie
buff. I had seen Vaaranam Aayiram
yesterday in Abirami (evening
show) along with 3 of my friends.
I was just blown over and "swept
of my feet" (quoting a
dialogue in the film) and this
typifies the experience that
I had of the film. Some directors
have the special talent of bringing
out the best from some actors.
For example, Mani Ratnam brought
the best out of actors like
Arvind Samy, Madhavan, Kamal
(Nayagan,one of my all time
favourite movies) and Rajini
(Dalapathi,and I have not seen
Rajini act like that again)
and I am a die-hard fan of Mani
Ratnam and Rajini. Likewise,
I feel Gautham brings the best
out of Suriya and they create
magic on screen, like they have
done for Vaaranam Aayiram.
I knew that Suriya was a good
actor,but never knew that he
had so many dimensions to his
acting in his repertoire. Many
might feel Suriya's attempt
to make himself a better actor
and choose better roles started
from "Nandha" but
I feel where he tried this first,
was from the film "Mounam
Pesiyadhe" and I just loved
that film and I personally feel
Suriya discovered his acting
skills in the film, and this
gave him confidence to choose
challenging roles the future. |

Coming back to Vaaranam Aayiram,
I feel it has two stories
intertwined together, one
which captures the trials
and tribulations of one person
and the other is the beautiful
relationship that a father
and son have and after seeing
this film many will wish and
yearn that they had such a
father. Certain scenes in
the film really moved me,
for example where Suriya calls
up his father in the film
and tells him about a sad
incident that had happened.
Suriya was exceptional in
that scene, both as a father
and a son.The film also shows
how smoking can kill you,
and also the advice that Suriya's
father gives him that he should
channel his anger and frustration
into positive energy, is truly
inspirational. He then works
out at the gym and uses his
anger in building up a good
physique and eventually becomes
an army man.
Suriya's dedication equals
to that of Vikram and he is
also a worthy heir to Kamal's
legacy.We were awestruck at
how he looked just like a
school kid and how he looked
every bit of an army man in
the film, right from the physique,
to the talk and the walk,
etc. Simran has done a great
job and after this film, I
feel many roles will be created
to accommodate her acting
skills. The songs in the film
were truly awesome, especially
"Nenjukkul peithidum"
song sung by Hariharan is
superb and I still get goose
bumps when I hear that song.
I heard that Gautham and Harris
have split and that news is
truly heartbreaking. I hope
they could bury their differences
and once again team up to
create magic.
I read the news about Gautham
cutting off the kidnap scene
from the film because of the
audience reaction that the
film is too long, but I personally
feel the film is justified
in its length. I also heard
many say that it was overly
melodramatic but I really
feel otherwise (but anyway,
opinions are subjective).
I really feel that this film
is a wholesome entertainer
and has everything for everyone
and like my friend Sathish
puts it, the film is "Fully
loaded".
PS: I am also a frequent Behindwoods
visitor, and certain posts
published by you of the opinions
of the film watching public,
for example "how one
fan did not like an Ajith
film " and "how
stars should grow up and out
of their image" was really
good and which encouraged
me to write my personal review
for Vaaranam Aayiram. I also
like the authentic information
that you publish. Keep up
the good work.
