Recently,
I watched the most hyped and epic show
of all time- Raavanan. I was really
speechless after watching the movie.
Although lately there have been talks
on multiple actors should do a movie
together and in my opinion, Raavanan
did set a standard for such movies.
From the hero Vikram to the small role
of Munna, everybody's role was well
balanced.
From the bottom of my heart, I have
been a Vijay fan for 13 years, but I
do respect Vikram and also patronize
his films. Raavanan aka Veera do remind
me of Aarumugam from Dhool, Chittan
from Pitamagan and a little bit of Arul.
His eyes do speak a lot, his body language
do portray lots of emotions and of course
Bak-Bak-Bak. Chiyaan, you deserve another
set of awards this time! (National award,
Film Fare Award, Tamil Nadu State Government
Award)
But there is another reason why I really
wanted to watch Raavanan- Prithiviraj.
I have been following Prithiviraj since
Kana Kanden when he played a stylish
villain in it and really gave a hard
time for Srikanth and Gopika. It was
one movie you can’t really hate
the villain. But then, in Paarijatham
he turned into a romantic hero and since
then his movies have do have romantic-
comedy theme. I really do enjoy all
his films and even Prakash Raj said
in an interview that Prithviraj is an
intelligent actor.

Dev played by Prithviraj was awesome. He was determined
and committed to find his wife and also to bring down
Veera. I am not going to spoil the climax how he got
Veera for those who have not seen the movie. But I
was a bit disappointed when he had to portray the
villainous look or cunning look when he had to suspect
his wife or when he had to lie to Munna. I was expecting
a lot from him. Pitted against a National Award winner,
I thought the pressure on him should be a lot.
I was discussing about Dev's character to my friends
and we realize that Mani Ratnam had another favorite
actor and always do appear in most of his films since
Alaipayuthey to Guru. Yes Madhavan! Madhavan in Ayutha
Ezhuthu was simply superb and of course the villain
role with a bit of comedy sense and loud personality
was really apt. In my opinion I thought Dev’s
role could be played by Madhavan. Madhavan would be
able to pull off an icy cool character with a bit
of cunning and sinister look.
But I am sure Mani Ratnam has his reasons to choose
Prithviraj over Madhavan.
But overall, I think this movie will bring Prithviraj
to another level. All the best to you. Looking forward
to your future projects.
And thank you Mani for giving the best film of 2010.
