Much
have been said, reviewed, analyzed and
praised about Endhiran. My intention here
is not to write the review, as it is better
to leave that to the experts.
But, what amazes me is the rebirth of
Rajni in Endhiran more than Sivaji. What
we missed all these years were the full
potential of Rajni the Actor. This has
been best brought out by Shankar the most
admired Director for his entertainment
value as his energy and the freshness
he brings to the every script he adopts
since his directorial debut.
Polimer TV showed Mullum Malarum yesterday
16th October. Trust me; the performance
of this Superstar was refreshing so to
speak. And, we discovered the Rajini of
the 80’s here in Endhiran.
There are handfuls of movies I enjoyed
watching Rajni simply because these were
the movies |

where
the Story line, Direction and sequences exhibited
the inner actor in Rajnikanth. Citing a few for
instances, Mullum Malarum, Jaani, Dharmayutham,
Thanikkatu raja, Moondru Mugam, Moondru Mudichu
Aarilirundhu Arubadhu varai, Annamalai, and to some
extent Dhalapathy were some of the movies his potential
as a serious actor were fully exploited. The viewing
of these films was more enjoyable than his also-rans
that were many.
There
were directors who exploited the weaker side of
Rajini only to create the commercial edge which
actually hid the actor in Rajini. Many remakes of
Amitabh’s Hindi movies only drowned Rajni
the Actor albeit it may have enhanced his stature
as a commercial wonder.
Thanks to Shankar, the task master, the thinker,
the adventurer, risk taker, the most valuable director
to the Tamil film Industry for bringing back Rajni.
I am only happy to share that we were the first
few to watch the movie in Dubai on the first day
and this is the first time, we watched again twice.
This is ironical as the writer has been an ardent
fan of Kamal haasan since School days. This is certainly
not an exaggeration when my friends were surprised
to hear me bragging about this film again and again.
No wonder, this film has taken the world by storm.
Shankar, when is your next venture with Kamalhaasan?
Much worth will be possibly, Kamal and Rajni together
in your direction.
