Try
to remember a few instances when you
felt excited and elated, upon just getting
a piece of paper. Was it your degree
certificate, first job offer or a greeting
card from your girl/boy friend? I am
not talking about money, as it's about
having a sense of control over life
that tries to 'buy' the excitement,
but not the excitement by itself. Just
a piece of paper, called as the 'First
Day, First Show (FDFS)' ticket of a
Rajinikanth movie, is the only thing
for which all Thalaivar-Fans long for
all their lives. Word 'Fan' sounds too
ordinary in Rajinikanth's context. Trying
to find suitable alternatives.
It's the day when one can easily take
advantage of a Rajini 'devotee' who
is unable to get his FDFS ticket (which
rarely happens though). If someone asks
him, 'I can give you the FDFS ticket.
Can you give your one month's salary?'
The prompt reply from the other side
would be, 'With pleasure'. Probably
the seller might think, 'Fool! It's
after all a 2.5 hrs movie ticket'. But
the typical thought process of a Rajini
'disciple' would be, 'Poor guy! You
could have asked for more. The Body-Mind
system standing before you under the
name of Rajini-Fan, has taken birth
on this earth, just to celebrate this
one day!'
During such FDFSs, one can witness a
sense of deep bonding among Rajini 'Adherents'
within a few exchanges of words and
glances. Acquaintances that start at
simple transactions- Be it the buying
of tickets from a day-long Queue,

Designing
Thalaivar T-Shirts/Cut-outs, innovative ways of
celebrating and honoring Thalaivar, Charity, etcetera.
And they turn out to be friendships of life-time,
of course, with no room for conflicts of interests.
A close friend of mine lives in my native Vellore
whom I got acquainted on FDFS of Padayappa. We are
miles apart now but still with unshakeable intimacy.
In fact, when I was doubtful about the possibility
of a preview show in Singapore, I was all set to
board the flight to Chennai. And guess what, he
offered to share the expenses! For 'followers' of
Rajini, Life is nothing but a series of Thalaivar
mov(i)es. The interval between two mov(i)es is merely
to celebrate the success of the previous mov(i)e
and to collect news and stills of the next mov(i)e.
On one such occasion of a FDFS, few years ago, I
happened to oversee a conversation. A guy was desperately
asking for a FDFS ticket just a few hours before
the show. Suddenly, another guy with a gang of his
friends gave his extra ticket without charging more.
One of his friends asked, 'Dei, Why did you give
the ticket at the same price? We could have easily
made a few bucks for our dinner'. Bang came a prompt
and grandiose reply: 'From his looks and intensity,
he definitely seems to be a Thalaivar fan. We know
how much a FDFS should mean to him. How can we exploit
such emotions of a fellow Rajini fan?!' Got goosebumps?!
Welcome to Thalaivar's-Fan Club. Here, Excitement
is the only language, Inspiration is the only product,
Athiradi (Passionate Intensity) is the only 'style'
and Living Rajinikanth is the only ideology. Proven
ingredients by SuperStar for a cheerful and successful
life. Remembering a quote by Nisargadatta, 'Love
says that I am everything. Wisdom says I am nothing.
Between the two, my life flows.' Here, love and
wisdom feel that Rajinikanth is everything. Around
that singularity, several lives center.
Got our Preview show tickets for Thalaivar's Endhiran,
after 48 hours of roaming/queuing in Singapore.
Thanks to fellow 'Aficionados' - Giri, Surya, Shajahan,
PKarthik and Gowrish. I am gonna get our retinal
and cochlear cells impinged with Thalaivar on Sep-30
SGT-8pm, much ahead of others. What about you pal!
