Few junk movies might have performed well at box office owing to marketing and media promotions. Unfortunately many good movies turned damp-squib at box office which is again due to poor marketing and star values. Before compiling review for this movie, "Red giant movies" should be appreciated for continuously taking up quality cinemas and marketing them.

Neer paravai" is "another sea-background movie", but the "ONLY sea-background movie" which depicts the livelihoods of fishing community people in 360 degrees within which a poetic love tale is beautifully woven.

Assets of "Neerparavai"

1) Casting - "Poo" fame RAM as Vishnu’s father steals the show just with his looks and body language conveying tons of emotions. You can notice only a marginal change in his face expressions when he is angry with his son and when he feels proud of his son, but even the marginal change conveys the emotions required for the shot. This unnoticed actor has long way to go. It’s high time for our national award committee to introduce a new genre of award in the NAME OF ACTRESS SARANYA called " Saranya- Best Mother performer award" and right person should be selected every year for this award to get it from Saranya. Both Vishnu and Sunaina deliver their best. Sunaina's performance is tailor-made for that Christian girl character

2) Songs - Music is by N.R Raghunanthan who has done a decent job. All the songs are hummable and are correctly placed without annoying the mood of the movie. All the songs are written by Vairamuthu and he enriches every song with his classical penning. Para Para will be pick of the lot.

3) Dialogues -Dialogue is handled by Jayamohan and Seenu Ramasamy which supports this sensitive story to great extent. There are many dialogues throughout the movie which deserve applause especially when they speak about Muslims being projected as terrorist, Tamil fisherman not being called as Indian fisherman and the dialogues during the final court scene.

4) Camera - Cinematography is a technical aspect of a movie which will be a value addition for a good movie and not all people make note of camera work while watching a movie. But this kind of movie will stimulate our interest level on enjoying the camera work of a movie. Mind blowing shots of sea captured at different shades and different angles are really a visual treat.

5) Directors touch - Seenu Ramasamy finds himself very comfortable in handling the relationship values and communicating the emotions. The way he narrates the relation between Vishnu and his father is a good example which looks very natural throughout the movie without any cinematic adulteration. Kudos to Seenu for discussing about the national issues that our fishing community is facing especially Tamil (Indian) fisherman being killed at international borders often just for crossing the border. It’s good that these things are not coming just as part of a dialogue, but coming as part of story making an impact.

On the negative side, there are very few things which could have been made better

1) The reason said for burying Vishnu in house without telling anyone doesn't sound logical.
2) Samuthirakani's character looks derailed from the story, though his dialogues are sharp.

Final verdict - Worth a watch. Quality cinema should always be encouraged.
