Is
Tamil cinema setting a new trend by producing
more of low budget movies and introducing
new faces into the industry? The answer
could be a yes and a no. In the past few
years we have noticed that many movies
have released with new faces and new directors.
Due to budget constrains many directors
and producers look for a new face. Didn’t
the movie Roja become a blockbuster with
a new face Aravindsamy and the Oscar winner
A.R.Rahman and Oru thalai Raagam a box
office hit with all new faces, producer,
artist, a new director T. Rajendar or
Paruthiveeran with a new face Karthi Sivakumar?
It is indeed a yes.
But there are many films that have failed
miserably at the box office in spite of
having experienced faces and director.
Similarly there are also many low budget
movies with new faces and directors that
have also failed at the box office |

because the industry took a big hit by the arrival
of corporate companies into the film industry as they
were unable to compete with them in terms of mass
advertisements and promotions.
Now-
a -days low budget movies have become a trend setter
and have been well received among movie buffs and
the production companies are said to have tripled
their profits. The TFPC (The Tamil film Producers
Council) grant relief has boomed the small budget
film industry where around nine films were selected
and were provided with Rs.2 lakhs each as a relief.
The movies like Eeram and Ambasamuthiram Ambani which
were considered low budget films with minimal advertising
faired well and received positive reviews. Thus whether
it is a low or a high budget movie, audience always
appreciate a film with good story and direction. Let
the industry keep the trend going!!!!!!
