Suhasini, the homely actress and wife of the
renowned director Mani Ratnam has proved to
be a sensitive director. Her directorial debut
was in the small screen with the serial Penn,
which handled issues relevant to women. Leading
actresses like Revathy, Radhika and Bhanupriya
were roped in for each episode. Enthused by
the success
of
the serial, she turned her attention to the
burning issue of casteism in her first feature
film, Indira. It had a neat narrative and a
positive message. Suhasini also directed an
episode for Revathy's home production, Telephoto,
where Rajiv
Menon
and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi led the star cast.
She has also co-directed the tele-serial Ganesh
–Vasanth.
