Peralagan, the first thing that comes to your mind when you see this movie, is whether the Tamil film industry has found the perfect successor to the versatile Kamalhassan. Such is the ease with which Surya has portrayed the role of Chinna. He is simply outstanding. Jothika as usual, graces the silverscreen, and Vivek with his timing, brings the house down. |

The movie revolves around the four main characters, Chinna, Karthik, Sembagham and Priya. Surya plays the double role of Chinna and Karthik, and Jothika plays the role of Sembagham and Priya. The role of Chinna will be adorned, loved and sympathized by the movie buffs. Chinna is a buck-toothed, hunch-back, who runs a STD booth. He doesn’t thing bad about his appearance and dreams of marrying a beautiful girl. Vivek as Kozhanthai, plays his marriage broker. Chinna falls in love with a blind girl, Sembagham, with whom, he pretends to be a very handsome man. |
The movie, in parallel, takes us through the love story of Karthik, a boxer and Priya, a charming malayalee girl. Priya’s father, a police officer is against this. The lovers elope and Varadhan, a local gonda intervenes and Priya gets killed. Her eyes are donated to Sembagham, who sees Karthik and mistakes him for Chinna. What happens next, is the story. |
AVM has to be applauded for bringing such a good movie to the Tamil industry. Director, Sasi Shankar in his first Tamil movie, is top-notch. The songs and the background score of Yuvan Shankar Raja are superlative. A pure entertainer for the entire family. Verdict : Hit!!
