After all the hype and anticipation, Madurey has disappointed everyone. Madhesh has failed to give a perfect masala like Ghilli or Sami. After Thirumalai and Ghilli, there were heavy expectations from Vijay in Madurey. The fight and song sequences have been shot well, but all the other aspects were disappointing. Vijay alone has done his part well, but his efforts have been wasted with a poor screenplay.

Vijay plays the role of a vegetable vendor (Maduravel) in the streets of Madurai. He lives with his foster mother Seetha and her two daughters. The truth that Vijay was in fact a district collector was revealed by an inspector who salutes Vijay in front of everyone.

The second half of the film has a flashback of Vijay as a collector and Sonia Agarwal as his secretary. The flash back is about how Vijay gets framed onto Sonia Agarwal's murder. Vijay proves his innocence and takes his revenge on the political thug (Pasupathy).

There were lots of logical mistakes in the screenplay. The inclusion of Rakshitha and Tejashree seems unwanted. Their glamour roles don't fit well with the movie's story. Sonia Agarwal is wasted in a minor role and she comes only on a flash back sequence in the later half of the film.

Vadivel's comedy scenes were rather bland and hardly tickle the audience. Vidyasagar's music is one good point for the film and the songs are focused on Vijay and the glamour dolls, Rakshitha and Tejashree.

Kanal Kannan has done an excellent job in stunt choreography. The fight sequences have been captured well and the background music was impressive. Pasupathy has done is part well, but the dialogues and screenplay brings down the importance of his role.

Having had a good star cast, the director has failed to utilize Vijay's flair and a good team of technicians. Due to Vijay's eminence, the first week collection has been satisfactory so far, but it is no way comparable with Ghilli.

Verdict: Not a 'once more' kind.
