No gorgeous sets, no songs and no punch line dialogues. Wait a second, are we talking about a Tamil movie. Pinch yourselves to believe, that’s the latest Prashanth starrer, Shock, for you. Director Thiyagarajan and Prashanth needs to be applauded for bringing the movie to Tamil. One might argue that the movie isn’t an original, but considering the freshness the father-son duo has tried bringing into the Tamil industry, the argument can well be overlooked.

The movie is an honest, scene by scene remake of Ram Gopal Verma’s Bhoot. Vasanth and Malini, played by Prashanth and Meena, move into their new rented apartment. Vasanth hides from Malini, that a girl had jumped off from the apartment’s porch and committed suicide. When Malini comes to know the truth, problems start for Vasanth. Malini becomes distressed and starts acting crazy. She starts walking around at night and behaves strange. Vasanth seeks the help of a psychiatrist, Sarath Babu. But this turns out to be of little use. On insistence of his servant maid, Vasanth finally contacts an exorcist, played by Suhasini. How Suhasini, helps solving the mystery, is the rest of the story.

Prashanth has done a great job and looks completely at ease with the role. Hats off to Meena, for a tremendous comeback. The heroine has been in the circuit for quite a long time, now. Suhasini has been wasted and actors Abbas and Sarath Babu have very little to do. Actor Thiyagarajan, could have been better.

Overall, a movie worth watching.
