Vijaykanth is back to what he does best, action. After the moderate success of “Engal Anna”, Vijaykanth teams up with Suresh Krishna for the first time for the action oriented flick “Gajendra”. It’s a remake of the super hit movie, “Simhadri”, starring Junior NTR. Evergreen movies, V.A.Durai is the producer. 

Deva has scored the music. Cinematography is by V Prathap. Liyakath Ali Khan, one of Vijaykanth’s favorite has written the dialogues. K.Thanigachalam takes care of editing. The stunts are by Rocky Rajesh.

Fight sequences are the highlight of the movie. Incidentally, stunt artiste Martin died in an accident during the shooting in Godavari River in Rajamundary. Producer, V.A.Durai in a kind gesture gave Rs. one lakh to his family. Rocky Rajesh promises the fight sequences to be one of the best ever seen in Indian movies. “Gajendra”, has five fight sequences based on the ‘Panchaboothangal’, the fire, water, land, wind and sky. One sequence was shoot for fifteen days continuously in the forests of Karnataka and another one was shoot with five thousand artists, along the banks of river Godavari.

Rajat and Nawab of  "Koi Mil Gaya" fame play the villains. Laya plays Vijaykanth's lady love.  Rajiv, Radha Ravi, Sarath Babu, Ramesh Kanna, Nizhalgal Ravi and Seetha form the rest of the cast.
