S
J Surya created a big
wave with his directorial
debut in Vaali with
Ajith
and Simran. The story
of a man lusting
for
his
younger brother’s
wife was new to the
Tamil audience. Then,
it was the Vijay
and Jyothika
starrer, Kushi. Mumtaz’s
steamy dances and Jo’s
bubbly acting ensured
that the film was a
mass hit. He then turned
to be the hero himself
and acted in New. The
somewhat implausible
story also had convoluted
screenplay and obscene
shots. The film nevertheless
became a success. Recently,
he was in the middle
of a storm over his
alleged assault on a
woman censor official
and the subsequent ban
on the film ordered
by the Court. Under
such tense circumstances,
his latest film Anbe
Aaruyire,
(which also saw a debate
over the previous title,
BF) will be releasing
today. Nila is the debutante
heroine. The film will
be screened in 120 theatres.
Initially, there were
orders for 150 prints
but then it was decided
to release only 120.
