Kamal’s
dream project is Marudhanayagam.
The film was inaugurated
about 8 years ago with
much
fanfare
in the presence of Her
Highness Queen Elizabeth
II who was then on a
visit to Chennai. But
it has been encountering
problems both on the
creative and operational
side. Finding finances
for the period drama
for which Kamal had
projected a budget of
about Rs. 80 crores
has been the major stumbling
block. Kamal has completed
several other projects
and has been making
constant efforts to
revive the film. Meanwhile,
there is a group of
people going around
collecting money from
the public ostensibly
for making the film.
An agitated Kamal has
given a statement that
he had not asked anyone
to do such a thing and
the public are warned
not to make over any
money to such unscrupulous
elements out to con
them and make a fast
buck.
