Amitabh and Star TV revolutionized television shows with KBC. Since then several clones of the program have been made with limited success. The USP of the program was of course, the inimitable screen presence of the Big B. He presented the show by connecting well with the audience and striking an instant rapport with the contestants. The jubilation in success and consolation in failure were shown with sensitivity and empathy. Although the show ran for more than two years, only one participant, Harshavardhan Nawathe won the total prize money of Rupees one crore. The show went off air during 2003. Now it will be re-launched from August 5 this year. The added attraction is that the prize money has been doubled. Happy quizzing again!
