Selvaraghavan approached the topic of romance from a psycho-social perspective in his earlier films like Kaadhal Kondein and 7G, Rainbow Colony. However, in his forthcoming film, Puduppettai, romance plays second fiddle to full-throttled action. But, it will be different from Sullan, he says. Therefore, Dhanush has acted with a new approach in this film. Puduppettai which is a densely populated locality in Chennai is the canvas in which the story moves. A set resembling the area has been created in Hyderabad and scenes were shot therein.
