house of medicinal plants that nature has
graciously bestowed upon the Indian soil.
Medicinal plants are as powerful and useful
today as they were thousands of years ago.
What remains less effective is our knowledge
of how to use them. They are nature’s
gift to human kind. The uses of medicinal
plants for treating common sickness has

guaranteed
great existence and are important because
of the side effects of chemical drugs. These
plants are free from any side effects and
are used in Ayurveda treatment. The plants
do not have any toxic factors and some of
the plants can be grown at home. The methods
of preparing these medicines are simple and
do not have any chemicals added to it.
We
can see some of the plants and trees that
are useful for mankind to cure some ailments.

The
magic grass that has medicinal properties.
It
is used for headache. Powder the roots well
and mix it with water to make a paste and
apply over the fore head as and when required.

It
is used to make soft drinks which give a very
cooling effect to the body.
It
is used to strengthen the blood cells and promote
oxygen to the body and is used in treating Prostrate
cancer and Diabetes.

Aloevera
has the miraculous healing virtues of a medicinal
plants and their practical application is within
the reach of every one.

It
is used for headache and constipation. Dry and
powder the leaf pulp. Mix two pinches of the powder,
with equal quantity of turmeric powder and dissolve
in ¼ cup of water and drink.
It is used for sore eyes.
Slit the leaf lengthwise and expose pulp. Place
the leaf on each eye with pulp touching the
eyes and bandage at night for 3 days
It is used for cough. Fry
½ teaspoon of pulp in half teaspoon of
ghee. Eat with little sugar in the morning,
noon, and night for 3 days.
It is used for cuts and wounds. Take the pulp
by splitting the leaf and exposing the pulp
apply on the wounds. Repeat twice daily till
wounds heals.
It is a liver tonic. Crush
leaf pulp or whole plant to extract juice. Take
two tsp of juice thrice a day with sugar or
honey for seven days.
It
is also used in preparing face creams. Cleaning
the face with the pulp gives a soft texture
to the face.

Mom’s
popular home medicine serves two purposes both
curative and universal remedy.
It
is used for headache and cough. For headache
dry Ginger to be taken, powder it and mix half
tsp of the powder with water and heat it to
make it a paste. Apply over the fore head.

For cold and stomachache,
fresh Ginger to be taken and extract juice,
add one tsp of Ginger juice with honey and take
thrice daily.
It
helps in digestion. Cut a piece of ginger and
chew it with salt 5 minutes before food.
