Interview : Trisha
tamil-movies-actress-trisha

Q: What is new about the title, Something, something, unakkum, enakkum?

Trisha: I feel it’s a cute title and personifies the youth element. The film is being shot on a majestic set here in AVM Studios.

Q: You acted in Varsham in Telugu which was a superhit. Why are you not seen in the Tamil version, Mazhai?

Trisha: Varsham was a big hit and brought me many offers in Telugu. I would have loved to do it in Tamil. But I did not have enough dates. Besides, I had soaked a lot in rain for Varsham. I even fell sick. So, didn’t want to repeat.

Q: You missed working with Jayam Ravi in Mazhai but pairing up in Something. How has been the experience so far?

Trisha: This film is also a remake of a Telugu hit. Ravi is a dedicated artiste and I am having a great time. Prabudeva created an excellent screenplay in Telugu which Raja sir has adopted well for Tamil.

Q: You seem to prefer Telugu over Tamil.

Trisha: Oh, well, I am doing Pournami in Telugu under Prabudeva’s directon. Prabhas is the hero and it is almost like a period film. I have a wonderful character. This is the only Telugu film now. My Tamil projects lined up are, Aaru with Surya, Aadhi with Vijay and Something with Ravi. I balance both the languages and try to do justice to my characters.

Q: Tell us something more about your Tamil films.

Trisha: I will not let the cat out of the bag. Suffice to say that Aaru has Hari sir as the director. I have already worked under him in Sami as a village girl. In Aaru, I play a modern girl. In Aadhi, the screenplay is totally centred on me and Vijay. In Something, my role is totally novel to the Tamil audience.

Q: Do you feel your position in Tamil is threatened by other actresses?

Trisha: I went to Telugu only because I did not get suitable roles in Tamil. Now, I have been given good roles and I am back. I like to act in memorable characters in both the languages. Therefore, my position is secure and no one can usurp me.

Q: Do you think heroines are also responsible for a film’s success?

Trisha: Definitely. Although films are marketed by projecting the heroes, the distributors are equally concerned about the heroines. Therefore, they also play a major role in deciding the fate of the film.

Q: Apart from your mother, who else would you thank for your success?

Trisha: First and finally, the audience. If they like you, your success is assured. Luck and hard works are also important factors.

Q: Today’s stars lack camaraderie. What do you have to say about this?

Trisha: I have many friends in Telugu industry. Although we compete, we are not jealous. We often discuss our performances. It is not so in Tamil. May be the outlook of the people has to change.

Q: Would you accept the offer if called for Sivaji?

Trisha: Who would refuse to work with Rajini sir? I do not exhaust my call sheets. I generally keep a week or two as contingency for working in irresistible films. I am very eager to do films with Kamal sir and Rajini sir.

Q: Your on-screen chemistry with Vijay is electrifying. You are called the ideal pair for Vijay. What would you say to that?

Trisha: I am extremely happy. Gilli and Tirupaachi did well and we are working together again in Aadhi. We have always shared a wonderful rapport and this show in our performances. I would also thank the audience for giving us the support.
