Q:
What are your views about the hero, Dhanush?
Balu:
Dhanush
represents to the youth what Rajini
did a generation ago. Despite unconventional looks
and lanky structure, the intensity in his eyes is
overwhelming. This passion will be his passport to
future successes.
Q:
How do you rate his performance in this film?
Balu:
As I said before, Dhanush has expressive eyes. Without
much dialogue he has effectively portrayed the anguish
and the romance of Seenu through his eyes.
Q:
Can you tell us something about the story?
|
|
Balu:
I can only divulge the main theme. A loving father makes a
decision for his son. He hopes that it would be the best for
him. However, how the son is caught in a whirl of emotions
because of his decision is shown in Adhu
Oru Kanna Kaalam.
Q:
Tell us something about the heroine.
Balu: I have always
maintained that Tamil girls are the most beautiful. Here,
Priya Mani has appeared as natural as can be. Her ability
to emote is remarkable.
Q:
You and Ilayaraja share a unique rapport. Tell us something
about the music for this film.
Balu:
Raja
is the maharaja of music. He knows exactly what I want and
always brings it out. His musical genius and his ability to
match with the mood of the film have helped me immensely.
In this film, he has written and sung one song and the other
three songs are also soothing.
Q:
What do you have to say about the protests that arose about
the excessively glamorous hoardings for the film?
Balu:
I had chosen some stills for the hoardings. But the producer
insisted on the glamorous stills due to commercial compulsions.
It is quite regrettable. Although the film suffered some negative
publicity, the problem has been sorted out as the police have
removed those objectionable hoardings.
Q:
When will you release the movie?
Balu: The film
is ready for release. It will hit the theatres soon.
Q:
Your next projects…retirement?
Balu:
(shrugs) Well, I have the desire to direct just three more
films. Of these, I would definitely like to handle the problems
of the Tamils in Sri Lanka in one film. The struggles of an
ethnic group made refugee due to no fault of theirs and denied
the right to a dignified existence due to constant wars makes
for a tearful farewell.
