"Kanadi Pookal" Parthiban speaks:

An Exclusive interview with parthiban...

Parthiban was recently hanging over at the Vijaya Vauhini for "Kannadi Pookal" for some patch work shooting. He gave an exclusive interview for behindwoods.com in which he revealed some hot news about his productions and about the new entrants in the film industry.

Question: What happened to your Kudaikul Mazhai?
Parthiban: In fact, I wanted to tell the story in a different way and I presented the film in the French style. The film was a flop and I burnt my fingers heavily.

Question: Was the characterization in the film properly worked out?
Parthiban: My creations are always something strange and extraneous. I always have this ego and I feel that every man in the film industry who has self confidence would have this. This does not mean that I am degrading other's opinions and suggestions. I have developed the two characters in a big way and narrated the story. But the people are not prepared to accept it.

Question : Is there anyone in the industry who did not praise you for your great work in K.Mazhai?
Parthiban:Director K.Balachander and Maniratnam called me over the phone and acclaimed me saying, "Parthiban I am moved by the characters and also gravitated towards the way the story was told". Appreciation came from Mani Ratnam as well. One of my friends in the cine field told me that i resemble the Malayalam actor Satyan in this film.

Question: Despite the loss, how is it feasible for you to continue producing films?
Parthiban: When I produced "Pudhiya Padhai" people accepted it. It was commercially successful as well. My next production was "Pulla Kuttikaran" which turned out to be an utter flop. But i had a group of people who praised the way I presented the film. Then came "Ullae Veliyae" which was a hit. I know the route to attain commercial success. I don't want to do it and earn lots of money. If I produce films like this then there won't be any difference between myself and other producers and directors.

Question: What is your opinion about the present films and their producers?
Parthiban: I have no ill-feelings against the people entering into films. I am the first man to welcome them. But they should make their debut in the best way by selecting good stories with the talented artistes and directors. Nowadays, some new entrants spend too much of money for a single scene which could be avoided. They spend heavily and their loss would take them to graveyard.

Question: Are u willing to start any campaigns to share your opinions?
Parthiban: Why should I start. If anyone needs opinion or guidance from me, they can feel free to contact me any time, I will guide them.
