A close-up on music director Vidhyasagar...

Q: We heard that you were the music director of Chandramukhi. How did you get this auspicious chance in the Super Star film?

Vidhyasagar: It was like a miracle to me. One day Director P Vasu saw me in a function and narrated that there is a good news waiting for me. I don't know what he was talking about then. But when Shivaji film's Ram Kumar asked me to do music for the film, I was really astonished.

Q: How was Rajini's reaction for you being the music director of the film?

Vidhyasagar: I met Rajini only in the "Chandramukhi" inauguration ceremony. He called me by my name and told me that he and his family members were very happy that I am "Chandramukhi's" music director. I even heard that some other person was to be the music director of "Chandramukhi". But it was Rajini who recommended me to be the music director of his film.

Q: How is your work in progress for "Chandramukhi" right now?

Vidhyasagar: Three songs were already composed for "Chandramukhi". There is still some more to go.

Q: If it is a Rajini film, then there is a lot of expectation for the film. What do you feel about it?

Vidhayasagar: Yes, it is very much true that there are a lot of expectation for the film. One day while I'm traveling by my car, a luxurious car overtook me and a very posh Gentle man from the car came to me and asked about the whereabouts' of the songs in "Chandramukhi". Rajini has fans in all types of caliber.

Q: You are a specialist in rock and roll types of songs. Are they your choice of interest?

Vidhyasagar: Though I use that types of song's as expertise in many of my film's, I personally like soft Melodious tunes. I very much like my previous films "Earkai", "Anbe Sivam" and "Parthiban Kanavu" because they have that melodious rhythm in abundance than the rest of my films.

Q: What is your favorite musical instrument?

Vidhyasagar:  There are many modern instruments such as keyboard, Guitar etc.. But I like my old Harmonium very much. I can't do anything without it. It is my most precious possession. It was a gift to me from my debutant film "Poomanam's" director S K Rajagopal. I've been very much possessive towards it from that day onwards.

Q: Who is your "Guru" or master in the music world?

Vidhyasagar: Music director M S Viswanathan is more of a Guru to me in the music world. I learnt from him like "Ekalaivan" learnt from guru Drona in the myth Mahabarata. But he didn't ask for my thumb, like Drona.
