After acting in Shankar's Boys, Genelia is nowhere to be seen in Tamil cinema for a long time. Now, she is pairing along with Vijay in the film Sachin. An interview with her.


Why didn't you continue in any Tamil film's after Boys?

After Boys, I got commited in many Telugu and Hindi film's, and most of my film's became super hit's. So, I got very good oppurtunity to prove my mettle in the Telugu and the Hindi film industry. I couldn't find time to act in any Tamil film's, as my call sheet was busy that time.


Could you name the film's you starred in Hindi and Telugu?

In Hindi, I starred along with Vivek Oberoy in Masti. I got a good recognition in the Hindi film industry through this film. In Telugu I starred along with Suman in Sathyam and wih Nithin in Shy.

How did you get your chance in Sachin?

Director Dhanu contacted me over the phone and talked about Sachin. I came to Chennai and listened to the story for half a day. The movie is a big budget movie and the hero is a super star, the director is very popular, I liked my character's whereabout in the movie, so I got into Sachin.


So, are you saying that you will accept only big budget movie with big heroes?

No, I didn't say like that. I usually give preference only to good story line in the movies. So, if a movie has a good story line, then there is no need that the story be a good budget movie or the hero be a popular figure.


Could you spare us the story line of Sachin?

I star as a college girl in Sachin. My character in the movie is a very good one. I don't have any permission to spell out the story more than this, so sorry!


How is your experience with Vijay?

Well, he is the senior actor here. I'm his junior. I don't have any experience to comment about him. But, he is a very nice person, he will provide me with lots of information regarding the cine field. Otherwise he is a very calm person in the set.


The famous Bipasha Basu is also in the Sachin. Do you think that this might affect your character's weightage in the film?

I don't care whether this film has got more experienced and more famous actress than me. I believe that my character in the film will be well spoken among the public.


What do you think the difference is between Boys and Sachin?

In Boys, I'm a newbie. I didn't know anything about cinema. Now, I know certain things about cinema, but still I'm a fresher.


Who is your role model?
There are many role models for me. Some of them are Simran, Jyothika, Aishwarya Rai etc..
