Exclusive interview with Boys Bharath at his residence. Excerpts from that interview as follows:

Please tell us about your family?

Mine is a middle class family. My father is a Software Engineer in a reputed software concern, my mother is a house wife and my younger sister is studying her 9th standard.

What has been your field of interest from your childhood days?

From my childhood days onwards, I've developed a liking for dancing, which inturn has turned into my passion slowly.

Then, how did you get the chance to act in Director Shankar's film, while you were interested in only dancing?

Actually, my interest for dancing led me into a dance school called swingers. Swingers mostly consisted of high class people, but I wanted to concentrate in my western style of dancing, so I got into the dancing school. When Director Shankar came to see me in one of our dance programs, he called me to act in his movie.

Didn't he test your skills before he let you in his movie?

Of course he did. He asked me, how I am different from others in dancing. I showed him some of my solo dancing performance. For example the head spin dance and etc. He was totally impressed and welcomed me into the Boys family.

How did you feel, while you were in the shooting spot of your first film Boys?

The boys shooting was really good. For the first six months we were actually enjoying the shooting. Only afterwards did I came to know the tricks and trades of the cinema world.

Have you ever feared that director Shankar might scold you when you were at the shooting spot?

No, Director Shankar is really a gentle man. He would never scold me or anyone in the shooting spot. Unlike other directors who used to compromise on new actor actress', director Shankar is an exceptional man. He wants everyone of his frames to be shown exactly as it occurs on his thoughts. He is always ready to take as many shots possible to get his rythm right.

Did you feel that your second film Four Students became a hit, only because of the 'Lajjavathiyae' song sequence?

The song sequence in the film, indeed did great things for the film's hit ratings. But the story line of the film was also a good one.

How did you boldly accept the anti - hero subject in the film Chellame?

At first, I too was not ready to do an anti - hero subject. But the director of the film explained me that the story line of the film was prepared with my character  as the  background and he also ensured  that  my  image will not be affected as the anti - hero character is that of a timid youth. So, I took the  risk and indeed the director was right on his words. The film's success ensured my success too.

How was you experience with Reema Sen?

Reema Sen was a great actress, I had more schedules with her in the shooting than the hero himself in the film Chellame. Except for the language problems between us, she was a great person to work with.

In your latest hit Kadal, how come you were able to reproduce the Madurai slang superbly?

It was all from experience. I personally went to Madurai and learnt the slang there by mingling with the people there for two weeks. This is how I was able to perform well in the film.

What do you think about the new face Sandhya in the film Kadal?

She struggled a bit in the shooting spot for being a fresher for the first time. But, later she was able to pick up pace and do a great role in the film. She is a good actress.

Do you have any ambitions?

My ambition was to become a good western dancer in the international level, and I always dream of becoming one.

How do you feel that cinema will get you to that level, as you had picked up this profession now?

Well, I take my cinema profession as a launching pad for my dreams. I will surely fulfill my dreams one day or the other.
