Gangster,
Jaanat, Awarapan, Raaz and now
Tum Mile. The successful combination
of Mahesh Bhatt- Emran Hashmi
continues with this movie. To
add to this combination is one
of Bollywood’s favorite
music directors Pritam Chakraborty.
Kumar who is a regular with
Pritam and Sayeed Quadri has
penned the lyrics for the album.
With such a combination, expectations
naturally run high for an Emraan
Hashmi and Soha Ali Khan starrer.
Tum
Mile...
Vocals: Neeraj
Shridhar
The original version of the
first title song is sung by
Neeraj Shridhar. A romantic
number with a little bit of
English lyrics thrown in. The
arrangements of instrumentals
are melodious and ring softly
in the background. The lyrics
are good; however the song is
not very impressive.
Tum Mile (Love Reprise)...
Vocals: Javed
Ali
The
next version of the title song
is sung by Javed Ali. Here again
the track begins very slowly.
Music has been given more importance
in this track. The strings,

light
beats surely make it a soft romantic number.
The special electronic guitar parts in between
are good. Even though the song is a little
song it has got a very nice ring to it and
makes it a pleasant listening experience.
This is a song that is bound to be picked
by those in love. Javed’s voice suits
better for this song.
Tum Mile – Rock Version...
Vocals: Shafqat Amanat
Ali
The last version of the title track is sung
by Shafqat Amanat Ali. This number also
begins slowly. Set in a rock mode, electronic
guitar has been used to a greater extent.
Shafqat has added more emotion to the lyrics
giving the song a better feel. The Pakistani
singer’s performance is certainly
getting better since his all time hit Mitwa
from Kabhi Alvidaa Naa Kehna. The beats
are quite good. This number also will surely
be a hit.
Dil Ibaadat ...
Vocals: KK
The perfect choice of singer for this song
one would say. KK has weaved his magic again
for this track giving the right emotions
and modulations which makes the song a hit.
Could be a prejudiced statement but somehow
when the song is about pain and love, KK
fits the role perfectly. (Remember Tadap
Tadap from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam?) This
song has Pritam written all over it - his
traditional soft melodious poetic rendition.
Dil
Ibaadat – Rock Version...
Vocals: KK
The rock version of Dil Ibaadat is certainly
better than the original version. With a
lot of strings, electronic guitar and beats
that give a rocky feel this track will surely
be famous.
Tu
Hi Haqeeqat...
Vocals: Javed
Ali
Another romantic number sung by Javed Ali
has some sufi tunes thrown in here and there.
At this stage you start to wonder; yet another
solo, so there are no duets in the movie?
Javed has performed very well, the lyrics
are good and the tunes are easy to memorize.
Iss
Jahan Mein...
Vocals: Mohit
Chauhan
A very teenager, college crowd puller song
with quite catchy tunes. The variety of
the instruments shows the good arrangements.
The beats, the saxophone bit, with the keys
makes it a good combination. Although the
music is fast and racy Mohit’s voice
has a melody to it making it a good combination.
Oh
Meri Jaan
Vocals: KK
The second track in the album which has
been sung by KK. A very soulful number that
will be famous with the girls, especially
the ones in love. The lyrics are about love
and missing the one you love, if one could
say a perfect yorker for KK to hit a six
and that’s exactly what he has done.
Soul
of Tum Mile
The theme music of the album is instrumental.
It begins with the sound effects of a thunderstorm
and then the music is slow and silent so
one wonders whether there is a storm brewing.
And yes, the storm begins with effects that
make it intriguing and thrilling. Leading
on the music becomes dramatic and then slowly
drops pace again. Makes you wonder where
this piece would be used in the movie. This
tune promises interesting visuals. One should
wait and see if it has worked on screen.
Verdict:
Tum Mile is a decent listening experience
- looks like the success combination has
worked out to the team’s favor. There
are three versions of the title song and
two of them are quite good. An interesting
factor to note: there is no duet, which
means no female singers. Only male ones
have sung all the tracks. Is this one of
its kind? No clue.
From the looks of it Pritam’s success
continues with this album too. His music
is promising and there is variety. From
the item hits in Billu, to steady ones in
Love Aaj Kal to very soft romantic ones
in Tum Mile. Pritam has proved that he can
make all kinds of music making him a favorite
with directors as well as movie lovers.
