Striker
- the name itself is very interesting.
Added to this, are many other
features. This film marks Siddharth’s
debut lead role in Hindi films.
More interesting news: this
album has eight songs, each
composed by a different music
director (Yuvan is one of them);
so one can easily expect a good
variety of music.
Aim Laga Ungli Chala...
Vocals: Blaaze,
Nitin Raikwar, Anushka
The theme song of the movie
is energetic and addictive;
why wouldn’t it be when
you have Blaaze setting the
lyrics on fire with his fast
and peppy rap. Although it’s
a little difficult to understand
the words, the tune is very
catchy. There is a hint of fusion
with classical instruments like
tabla and sitar thrown in. One
should also give credit to Anushka
for matching the pace and feel
of Blaaze. A song that one would
listen to over and over again.
However, people familiar with
Tamil songs would recognize
the rap as one that Blaaze has
already used in the movie Aegan.

Pia
Saanvara ...
Vocals: Sunidhi Chauhan
A romantic melody with Sunidhi crooning
very soothingly, composed by Shailendra
Barve and Jeetendra Joshi penning the lyrics.
The tunes are rich with classical flavor.
And the flute usage has highlighted this
to a great extent. A very beautiful song.
Ajab Teri Karni Maula...
Vocals: Swanand Kirkire
This number has been composed and song by
Swanand Kirkire. A very natural and pleasant
song with very few instruments. In fact
an entire song with just the dolak and harmonium.
Reminds you of music of 70’s. The
qawwali tone adds more flavor to the song.
Aur
phir Yoon hua...
Vocals: Vishal
Bhardwaj
A very soft melodious number sung by Vishal.
With beautiful lyrics soothing tunes and
mesmerizing voice this song is bound to
be a hit. The song is very straight and
simple but for the ending where there is
a small piece which brings out the western
element. On the whole a good listening experience
however if you listen to it closely you
might find hints of Kaminey in the tune.
Haq

Vocals: Yuvan
Shankar Raja and Siddharth
One of the first compositions of Yuvan for
Bollywood, but one wonders why did he sing
the song himself and didn’t try any
other singers. This is a comment because
there is more of a South Indian flavor to
the song. And also getting Siddharth to
sing is interesting. But the performance
is not bad for a first time. The lyrics
are inspiring and explain the theme of the
movie.
Cham
Cham Jani Raatein...
Vocals: Sonu
Nigam
Another slow number which is also Sufi based.
Composed by Shailendra Barve and sung by
Sonu Nigam. Sonu’s voice is mesmerizing.
And the feel that he has given to the song
makes you fall in love with it. The music
is absolutely soothing and the lyrics very
well written. Interesting instrumental,
the clapping of hands through out the song
makes you want to clap along. The song goes
on for over 6 minutes but not a single second
you are bored. You are just hooked all through.
Bombay
Bombay Tararara Rappa...
Vocals: Amit
Trivedi, Siddharth
This song has Amit Trivedi written all over
it. Music is interesting and peppy. But
it’s a song that many will like only
after listening to it many times. The lyrics
are not very impressive. Second song that
Siddharth sings so due credit to his efforts.
Verdict:
Seven out of eight songs are very impressive.
Good effort on the whole by each one of
the music directors. One interesting factor
is the use of harmonium by all of the composers.
Although the songs have been individually
composed they bring together a good album
and a good mix: little bit of Sufi music,
classical and rap. Altogether a different
and unique listening experience, also to
add, an interesting effort by Yuvan.
