It
is the time of rom-coms in Bollywood.
After ‘I hate love stories’,
Anjaana Anjaani and the more recent Action
Replayy, Break Ke Baad joins the list.
Starring Imran Khan and Deepkia Padukone
in lead roles, Break Ke Baad has been

by
debutant Danish Aslam for Kunal Kohli's home production.
Musician duo Vishal and Shekar have scored the music
of this movie.
Adhoore…
Vocals: Alyssa Mendonca, Vishal Dadlani
This
is something you don’t expect when a song starts
with the word 'Adhoore'. Though the meaning means
incomplete, Vishal shows his magic with his voice
and music to make this song memorable. With Alyssa
for company, the song sparkles though it has a touch
of sadness to it. A typical start to a Vishal-Shekhar
album and it is sure to stay on the charts for a while!
The remix version of the same song, with some additional
layers of music, sounds like a fast-forwarded version
of the original but can be heard in pubs for sure.
Ajab Leher …
Vocals: Neeraj Sridhar, Vishal Dadlani,
Rhys D'Souza, Shekhar Ravjiani
The song starts on an interesting, inquisitive note.
Then it is all Neeraj's show. Ajab Leher hai, meri
padosi... ajab hi chite, ajab ishare...mmmmm! Wonder
how this neighbour would be. A fun-filled song with
interesting sound arrangements but basically simple.
Vishal, Rhys D' souza and Shekhar give good company
to Neeraj. Just wait to see this on the screen. It
must be surely be visually appealing! Rewind?
Dhoop Ke Makaan…
Vocals: Richard
Dhoop ke Makaan? Here again we see the brilliant Prasoon
Joshi working overtime. If it was Vishal in the first
song of the album, it is the turn of Shekhar Ravjiani
in this one. With a slightly heavy music to complement
the wonderfully talented singer(s), the song otherwise
is gentle to listen to. Listen to this more than once
to feel the impact!
The accoustic version of the same song with strumming
guitars is an absolute delight to listen to!
Dooriyan
Hain Zaroori…
Vocals: Vishal
Dadlani, Monica Dogra
And finally we see Vishal- Shekhar in their best mood.
Dooriyan ... is a rock song with Monica and Vishal
taking care of the vocals. Monica, a member of a rock-band
herself, is at her own. A high spirited Vishal adds
to the pitch of the song. Neat arrangements and Vishal
does not disappoint as rock numbers seem to be his
forte of late. Not extraordinary but can be welcomed
by the multiplexed audience.
Main
Jiyoonga…
Vocals: Nikhil D'Souza, Gino Banks,
Mikey Mcclearyu
You would be familiar with the initial music of this
song if you had seen the trailer. Nikhil seems to
have rendered this without much effort. With a captivating
voice, he even makes the split between the couple
an enjoyable number. Vishal-Shekhar try out soft-rock
this time and it surely works. Definitely a must listen!
Vishal jumps in again for an English version of the
same song. This may just add value to the album but
does not warrant a mention otherwise.
Verdict:
Overall, Break Ke Baad is a fun-filled album just
fitting the rom-com scenario of these days. If we
saw only songs being shot at various locations in
the west, the influence has gotten bigger with movies
being shot on foreign locations. Hence, the 'phoren'
mold is seen in songs as well, with various experiments
like rock and soft rock being introduced in albums.
Vishal-Shekhar must take the credit of using it frequently
and still make an impact with the audience. Break
Ke baad is young and peppy but not really fresh. It
is for sure that this album will be a hit with the
urban audiences.
