idiots – wow… you
wonder what kind of a title
is that? Then you see the name
Aamir Khan and then nothing
else matters. You certainly
know that you can expect something
fresh and different from the
movie. Added to this is the
star cast of Madhavan, Sharman
Joshi, Kareena Kapoor and Boman
Irani. Directed by Rajkumar
Hirani expectations are very
high for the movie. Music has
been composed by Shantanu Moitra.
Although he has given hit music
in Parineeta and Lage Raho Munnabhai,
he has not been successful commercially.
Yet his songs are good and have
quite a decent fan following.
Apart from that when you think
again that this is an Aamir’s
movie and hence you can expect
songs to be good.
Aal Izz Well...
Vocals: Sonu
Nigam, Swanand Kirkire, Shaan
The song begins with a cockerel
crowing. With that you sit up
and wonder what the song is
going to be like. Then enters
Sonu Nigam humming like his
usual self and then you sit
back and enjoy the song which
has a new flavor. A very fast
peppy number which Sonu has
sung with different tones and
modulations. To add to the combination
is Shaan which reminds you of
Koi Kahe from Dil Chahta |

hai...
The local flavor with whistle sound, and
noise of beating of vessel reminds you of
a college set up. This song is bound to
be famous with college goers. Swanand Kirkire's
lyrics are very impressive and easy to catch
on.
Aal Izz Well (Remix version)...
Vocals: Sonu Nigam, Swanand
Kirkire, Shaan
The
remix version of this song is even better
than the original. Reason: the rap, fast
and rhythmic beats of the drums, the well
sung chorus, whistle sound and Sonu’s
modulations. This song will not only be
a chartbuster but also will play in all
the college festivals and meets.
Zoobi Doobi...
Vocals: Sonu Nigam, Shreya
Ghoshal
The song begins with the magical voice of
Shreya and then enters Sonu in yet another
deadly combination. This song has been made
for dancing and that too in the rain. Although
the tunes in between remind you of those
in 70’s and 80’s it is quite
catchy. Almost at the end Shreya has sung
in different modulation which is very western
which makes you want to hum along. Here
again the remix version is fast and peppy
and better than the original one.
Behti
Hawa Sa Tha Woh...
Vocals: Shaan
and Shantanu Moitra
A very soulful song …The lyrics explain
the character of Aamir and how his friends
are now searching for him. This song has
Shantanu written on it as there is a hint
of Bengali feel. Very little instruments
used. Little bit of flute and beats are
used in the background with emphasis on
the voice. The arrangements with the voice
is however very impressive. This song will
be liked when seen with the visuals.
Give Me Some Sunshine...
Vocals: Suraj
Jagan and Sharman Joshi
The song begins with tunes on the guitar
and anecdotes narrated by Sharman. The lyrics
are about youngsters not being allowed to
live life the way they want to. Another
song that is visually inclined. Definitely
another college song that will surely be
famous with the youth, the tune however
reminds one of Shankar- Ehsaan- Loy combination.
But that could be because of the tunes on
guitar. On the whole, although the song
is a little slow it will surely pick up
with the college crowd.
Jaane
Nahin Denge Tujhe ...
Vocals: Sonu Nigam
One of the best renditions of Sonu, one
would say. A very soulful and passionate
song that has been given life by the singer.
Sonu has gone for a little higher pitch
than he usually does. The lyrics are yet
again wonderful. This song is about friendship
and friends standing up for each other and
not letting the other fail.
Verdict:
The songs are quite good. Although most
of them might not hit instantly it will
surely pick up as the movie releases. Most
of the songs are soulful and singers have
done full justice to the tune and lyrics.
The lyrics are also very good and written
to suit the situation. A factor to note
is that there is a variation in the songs
from the peppy Aal izz well to Jaane nahin...
The music director gives his best with this
variation. The songs actually make you want
to see the movie.
