The theatre owners in Pune have decided not
to screen My Name is Khan unless peace returns.
Though police protection has been offered,
the Pune theatre owners say that it is not
adequate and they cannot risk screening the
movie.
In an interview to The Hindu, the President
of the Pune Film Exhibitors’ Association
Sadanand Mohol said, “The police have
agreed to deploy 17 personnel at single-screen
theatres. The number deployed at multiplexes
is bigger. But the atmosphere is risky. We
are simple people and would not be able to
deal with violence if there is any.”
The Joint Commissioner of Police Rajendra
Sonawane has said steps have been taken to
ensure that there are no troubles during the
film’s release.
