The
Filmfare Awards for 2009 were presented at a
glittering ceremony yesterday. The awards ceremony
was witness to a rare occurrence where one of
the most senior actors, in fact a veteran, of
the industry walked away with the Best Lead
Actor award. It was achieved by none other than
Amitabh Bachchan for his performance as Auro
in Paa. Vidya Balan bagged the Best Lead Actress
award for portraying Auro’s mother.
All the major awards however were bagged
by the most popular film of the year, Three
Idiots. It won awards for the Best Film, Screenplay,
Story, Dialogue and Direction. The only acting
award to go to Three Idiots was to Boman Irani
(Best Supporting Actor).
This Filmfare Awards will be remembered as
one where none of the big Khans received any
prize which is a pretty rare sight. But, a
rather expected one was the award for Best
Music which once again went to A.R. Rahman
for his stirring score in Delhi 6.
Nandita Das’s directorial debut, Firaaq,
fetched the critics’ award for the Best
Film while Ranbir Kapoor was the critics’
choice for best actor for a wonderful year
where he displayed amazing variety. |
