Veteran actress and the chairperson
of the Central Board of Film Certification,
Sharmila Tagore says that it is
not enough that the International
Film Festival of India has a permanent
venue but it should have a better
face to promote it. She was quoted
as saying, “International
film festivals need a face to raise
its profile. Bureaucrats get transferred
whereas prominent film personalities
are a continuity.”
The actress adds that it should
not necessarily be a Bollywood film
personality. Sharmila also rues
that the IFFI has become more ‘Bollywood
centric’ in the recent years
and called upon to diversify it.
