Leon Dai’s Taiwanese film
I Can’t Live Without You was
awarded the coveted Golden Peacock
award at the closing ceremony of
the 40th International Film Festival
of India (IFFI). Korean director
Lee Chang-dong won a cash prize
of Rs. 15 lakhs for directing the
film A Brand New Life. The Silver
Peacock award was presented to the
Georgian-Kazakh drama, The Other
Bank. This film was directed by
George Ovashvili.
The jury was headed by Joao Batista
de Andrade, veteran director from
Brazil. Other jury members were
Kenichi Okubu (Tokyo), Vic Sarin
(Canada), Sarika (India) and Jean-Michel
Frodon (France). |
