being
Anil Kapoor's production, it did create expectations
in Bollywood circles. But what it reminds you is not
to decide on watching a movie going just by the trailer
alone.
Anil Kapoor has 'unremoved' bullets in his tummy which
makes him ticklish whenever it swims inside. Ok! No
problem. Sushmita Sen suffers from a 10-minute-a-day
disorder wherein she wants to kill Anil Kapoor. No
Problem! Paresh Rawal is so blind that he could not
identify people sitting on his lap. No Problem! One
of the villains has an electrified body and so he
can kill anyone just by hugging the person. No Problem!
Movie shooting in the police headquarters? No Problem!
A lie detector machine goes faulty and screams LIE
when a person says the truth. No Problem! In the middle
of all these, there is a very serious Akshay Khanna
showing heart-felt emotions towards his love. No Problem!
A talking gorilla to add charm to the already existing
mess! No Problem!
So what is the problem? To watch all the above said
'samples' in one 140-minute ordeal is the problem.
For the record, the story is about two petty thieves
getting tangled in a bigger web of super-thieves and
how they prove their innocence in the end. The film
was intended to be funny and a strict entertainer.
But what transpires is a dull and incredibly boring
movie with slapstick and decades-old remarks.
It makes us wonder if the screenplay really required
the efforts of four people: Rajiv Kaul, Anees Bazmee,
Rajan Agarwal and Ikram Akhtar. We have seen no-brainers
before but this one tests our endurance levels (of
watching a movie). What is more disappointing is that
the movie doesn't have a genuinely funny sequence
or bright dialogues. It is painful to see veterans
like Anil Kapoor, Suniel Shetty and others look like
cartoons on the screen.
There are a few funny moments alright but how long
can we digest movies with only a few scenes providing
relief? We genuinely feel that it is high time that
we see movies which do not forget plot and screenplay.
It was publicized that No Problem is a 'Never seen
before' comedy movie. True!
Verdict : No problem if you miss the movie
Missing the stars? Even if each star (read actor)
in the movie commands a star each, it amounts to more
than five. So let us do away with the rating this
one time!
