Bala is known to be a sensitive director. His handling of human emotions is tinged with subtleness and empathy. All his movies so far, whether Sethu or Pithamagan or Nanda, have analyzed the darker side of human nature without being theatrical or trite. He has turned producer with Mayavi starring Surya and Jothika. Although the director’s baton for the movie lies with Singampuli, Bala has also directed one song in the movie. Surya has put in a very different performance with the persona of a street jester.
