S.J. Suryah never seems to
run out of controversies with
his films. While his unconventional
stories have an emotive appeal,
the narrative seems to be
loaded with unnecessary suggestiveness.
The sensuousness sometimes
borders on lewdness ad nauseam.
His next film opposite Nayantara
was embroiled in a ruckus
with women’s rights
activists for its title 36-26-36.
After initial hard posturing
he relented under pressure
from distributors to change
the name. The film has been
tentatively renamed as Kalvanin
kadhali. With Suryah,
of course, one can never be
sure. So the title could change
again. Keep watching this
space for more.
