Eight films, big and small, are due for release on Pongal day. The biggies lined up are Vijay’s Thirupachi, a mass entertainer with just the right mix of commercial ingredients, Sarath Kumar’s Ayya, which is said to be a family entertainer with melodious music scored by Bharadwaj, Dhanush’s Devathaiyai Kandein, which is a very important film for Dhanush, and Prashanth’s Ayuthum, which promises to be an action-based family drama.

In Iyer IPS, Satyaraj plays a double role of hero and villain. Producer-director KR has come up with Dancer starring Kutty, a one-legged hero. Murali comes back to form through Arivumani and Jathi has the debutant actress, Sathya in the lead.

Compared to last year, this Pongal will see more number of releases and a wide variety of films.
